Sandy Koufax!!! He is widely regarded as one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball history, despite having one of the shortest prime careers of any legend. Born in 1935, Koufax played his entire Major League career with the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers from 1955 to 1966. Early in his career he struggled with control, but once he mastered his mechanics, he became nearly unhittable.

From 1961 to 1966, Koufax reached an extraordinary peak, winning three Cy Young Awards, one MVP, and leading the Dodgers to multiple World Series titles. He threw four no-hitters, including a perfect game in 1965, and was known for a blazing fastball and a devastating curveball. His dominance was matched by his toughness, famously refusing to pitch Game 1 of the 1965 World Series because it fell on Yom Kippur, a decision that earned widespread respect.

Chronic arthritis in his left elbow forced Koufax to retire at just 30 years old, sacrificing longevity for health. Even so, his excellence reshaped expectations for pitching greatness. Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1972 at age 36, Koufax remains a symbol of peak performance, integrity, and quiet excellence in the sport.
